Pics Galore

So we've had a busy past couple weeks with TONS of family in town. Instead of doing a monster blog I did three minimonster blogs. But hey, for your view pleasure, there's more pics than words. I consider that an improvement on my end. Aside from all the family being here, we're continuing work on our upstairs. The boys have been working hard at getting everything up and going. I've just stuck to doing what I know best and painted, left the hard work to them. We've had yucky weather but with beautiful weather in the forecast we're hoping to get out and do some fun activities.

Fun with Family

The boys have been having the time of their lives with all the family we've had in town, there was 19 of us at one point, now 16. The best part was they had their cousin Jensen come visit and their cousin Cooper is still here. Because of the weather and all the construciton on the house, we haven't done too much but we did get a trip to the duck park in. The boys love this place; great playground, duckpond, and fountain to swim in. They've also been having fun paying around the house, racing bikes, swing on the tire swing, having a huge Father's Day BBQ (2 days late) and roasting smores. These pics aren't in any particular order, there's too many of them.

Ahh, Smores

Why uncles should neve be left in charge of the fire when kids are around. The inital flame sent a few kids running, luckily no one was hurt ;-)

Backpacking Trip

Every year my dad, uncles and all the boy cousins go on a backpacking trip. This year all my brother-in-laws got to join them and they had quite the group (14 of them hiking). Unfortunately they had the worst weather they've expereinced in the
20+ years they've been doing this. The left on Friday and had beautiful weather for the hike in. That night it started to rain and it all went down hill from there. They had rain, hail, and snow all day Saturday and Sunday. Luckily they had nice weather again for the hike out. I'm sure all the Australlians that went thik us Americans are flat out stupid to leave nice warm, dry beds and go sit out in the middle of nowhere freezing. They claim to have had a good time and want to go next year. Don't give up hope guys, next year will be better.
These pictures are decieving cause they were all taken during the nice weather.
Since they were gone for Father's Day we made them all shirts to wear while hiking. As you can see, the boys had an absolute blast putting handprints everywhere. Somehow they didn't get the memo that the paint was for the shirts only. We have handprints EVERYWHERE and our bathtubs had quite the tiedie job for a little while.

Getting Ready to head out

It really was beautiful up there

And this is what they pulled out of that lake. Ask any of the boys and they said the fishing was the best part of the trip.

Kalei 1-month/blessing

Kalei's one month!
I can't believe Kalei is already a month old. She turned a month yesterday and growing incredibly fast. When I took her in for her 2-week appointment she had already put on a pound and I'm pretty sure she's added another pound since then. I'm already having a hard time getting her into 3-month clothes. Here's a few notables about her.
-Now that I've cut dairy out of my diet her gas has died down and she's a VERY easy going baby.
-Still wakes every 2 hours or so at night but is quick to go back to sleep after she's eaten and had a diaper change.
-Wiggles, Wiggles. This little girly is already wiggling her way off of things, onto her side, and out of her diaper.
-She HATES hairbows. We tried one for the first time last for her blessing and she kept staring up at it like what is this thing on my head.
- LOVES her Daddy and uncles. Both Junior and his brother Rodney have earned smiles from her, not gassy ones but beautiful legitmate smiles. I'm starting to get a complex, I have a 2-year old that is still yet to say Mom, Momma, or Mommy but says just about everyone elses names after knowing them just a short while (when I try to get him to say it he just smiles and laughs) and a newborn who smiles at everyone but me.
-We all adore her and are loving having a little girl in the house.

Blessing
We were fortunate enough to be able to get permission to have her blessing at home instead of at church since we had so much family in town. She had both Grandmas, Grandpas, all her uncles, (except Uncle Ross in Aussie and Uncle Tyler who's on a mission in Brazil), and the two aunties from my side.
Junior gave a beautiful blessing but it was sheer chaos. Brayden, Tavita and their cousin Cooper saw the circle of men and couldn't resist diving in the middle and knocking them in the legs pretending they were in a cage. By the time I fished them out of there a cell phone went off and kids started crying. I'm sure the bishop was deeply questioning my promise for a reverent atmosphere for the blessing. Oh well, it's a great intro to the chaotic life she is bound to lead in this family.
We have a great picture of Kalei with all her uncles but it's on a different camera, I'll have to post it later.

More Pics of Kalei

Okay, here's a post I started on Sunday but finished today.
Despite cars flying at her head, being jumped on and other near death experiences, Kalei managed to make it through the first week of her life avoiding any major mallings from her brothers. Her first week of life she did nothing but sleep during teh day, literally I had to force her awake to eat. Of course once night hit she was very consistent about eating every two hours Oh well, she wouldn't be a Shum if she was a night sleeper. The past few days she's been much more alert and the boys love seeing her, "morning eyes" as Brayden calls it. She has an amazing talent of exploding from every orifice in her body. We've gone through 2 1/2 pack of diapers in one week, I'm very seriously considering going cloth, and go through multiple outfits a day. She is out to show the world that being a girl doesn't mean she has to be dainty. She out eats, poops, and burps her brothers easily! We continue to love having her around and the boys obsession with her has not lessened any at all! In fact as I write this she has a singing/dancing hat over her head and face with the boys cracking up, and Brayden was giving her a "blessing" a few minutes ago. She is going to be one tought girly! If you just look at the pics, I swear you can see her grow. She seems more like a one month old than a one week old to me!
Still in the hospital

Going home

Daddy restrianing the boys so Kalei can have a few peaceful moments to eat.

The boys LOVE to have "Rowbie" lay with them a few minutes before they sleep

A rare peaceful moment during her bath, normally HATES them!

Beautiful Kalei
