The 1st day of school came WAAAAAAYYYY to quickly for this mama who has a hard time seeing her babies grow up. This year was especially difficult because they only offer full day kindergarten here. I am so opposed to all day kindergarten on so many levels (don't think the kids are mentally or physically ready to be gone that long, there is no need for them to be gone that long, it's a waste of tax dollars, free day care etc). Bottom line is, I already have a hard time sending my kids off to school, and having my 5 year old gone all day makes it that much harder. I firmly believe that most of the learning that takes place at that age should be taking place at home. We researched several different options (other districts, private schools etc) and nothing felt right. We even considered homeschooling him for a year but Tavita was very against that idea. Soooo full day kindergarten it was. He has really been enjoying himself and his teacher is amazing but he comes home utterly exhausted each day.
The boys have both been enjoying being in school and being able to play with friends each day. The school about a mile down the road from us and despite inital doubts we've been enjoying it so far. It's a smaller school so the faculty and staff get to really know the students which we like.
Brayden ready for his first day of 1st Grade!!!
Brayden and his teacher Mrs. Chrzaszcz. She seems full of energy and fun. (10 pts to whoever can pronounce her name. It's actually really easy to say, just sounds nothing like what it looks like)

Our big Kindergartner! He was so unbelievably excited and proud to be going to school. (Unfortunately his teacher wasn't there when we went to his classroom. They have all the kindergartners meet teachers/line up outside to minimize on the trauma of the 1st day and parents/kids having a hard time saying good-bye)
So glad these two had each other as friends/protectors as they headed of to a school where they knew no one.
So excited to be Hudson Hawks!
Tavita lined up with Mrs. Villa. He was all smiles until line up time, then he became more somber.
Ready to take his first steps into the next 13 years of his life!
It's dark and hard to see, but this picture breaks my heart every time I look at it. Just as it was time to go in he looked at me with misty eyes with the most vunerable/scared/anxious/unkown can't fully describe it look on his face yet he was still trying so hard to be brave. He seemed so small and innocent. The mama inside me just wanted to take his hand and sit by his side the whole day. I held it together until I turned around then lost it.
Hopefully this little surprise in their lunchbox helped them forget any fears or worries they had about their 1st day.
Kalei has mixed emotions about her brothers being off at school. Every morning she walks around singing about it being a "girls night" since the boys are gone. But soon she's asking when we can go pick them back up. She always wants the same lunch her brothers are having!
